i never liked the “maka is a weapon” surprise in the anime (vividly remember writing an impassioned wordpress blog post about it when i was like 12) and generally ignore it while still appreciating its cool-factor and liking the scene as a whole. but i want to work it into my ideas now. what if it’s a manifestation of her intense exposure to black blood. like, just resonating with soul’s trace amount of black blood in his system was enough to give it to her, even if it was brief. and then she went ALL THE WAY, madness included, in her fight with crona. i guess exorcism wavelength fuckery could have reversed it in her, but wheres the fun in that? i want that to take a toll on her.
maka is exposed to black blood twice, the second being extremely advanced/intense, and then the kishin awakens. you know, the guy that heightens everyone and everything’s madness.
im pretty obviously basing a lot of this on the idea that crona’s black blood is what enables ragnarok to share their body. my whole thing here is “maka’s exposure to black blood triggers previously dormant weapon powers that slowly become more active until the actual scythes appear in the Final Battle”
